At Moonstir, we have a range of professionals dedicated to supporting health and wellbeing. Our Psychotherapists, Nutritional Therapist and Physiotherapist have put together these self compassion soothe boxes. What is self compassion all about?
Self-compassion involves being aware of our own pain and suffering, and understanding that while feeling this pain is hard, it is a normal human experience. This pain can be both physical and emotional, it can affect our bodies through aches and injuries, poor digestion, difficulties sleeping and our overall wellbeing. That is why Moonstir focuses on supporting your mind and body.
Directing feelings of kindness and care towards ourselves, and focusing our attention and energy on how we might alleviate our pain, are crucial components of self-compassion.
Self-compassion can activate our soothe system, which calms our threat system (the system responsible for detecting potential dangers in order to protect ourselves) and our drive system (the system that spurs us on to get things done and be active in life). This is important, as without our soothe system, our threat and drive systems become overactive and can lead to difficult emotions such as anxiety, anger, and depression and we often self-criticise.
There are many ways of building self-compassion. By practicing ways to stimulate the soothe system we can begin to cultivate an attitude of kindness, warmth, concern, understanding and strength within us, and then use this attitude to respond to our own struggles, rather than reverting to our usual self-critical habits. We have developed a Soothe Box which contains resources to help you manage your anxiety, increase your mood and focus on improving self-soothing activities.
A Soothe Box is a place to put reminders for your compassionate self, so you can use your resources to nourish you along life's journey. We have developed 3 sizes of Soothe Boxes which are wrapped up in lovely gift wrap of varying colours. Full pictures available at https://www.facebook.com/moonstir
